Boost MobileBoost Mobile, part of Sprint (S) has announced a new mobile advertising program launching today. Boost offers pay-as-you-go and traditional mobile billing plans. Initial advertisers include Acura and Fox Searchlight Pictures. Boost has partnered with Amobee Media Systems to source and manage the advertising.

Boost has 4.6 million customers, most under 30 years of age. The ads will be interactive and the consumer is not charged for interacting the with the ad. What makes the ads interesting is that they are automatically pushed/forced to the consumer. The consumer is required to call customer service if they want to opt-out of the ads. My guess is that we will see great metrics in a month with huge impression numbers from these ads as most Boost customers won’t spend the time to opt-out. If Boost wanted to do the right thing, they could text each customer and find out what type of ads (if any) the customer is interested in viewing.

I’ve attempted to read the 80,000 word terms and conditions document and I can’t find the note about company-sponsored advertising being pushed to customers. Earlier this week we looked at mobile monetization and now we need to add mobile carrier sponsored advertising to the list.
