FixyaAfter partnering last month with BestBuy and Geek Squad, today Fixya is announcing a new market they will serve: autos. Fixya will now provide searchable service manuals and community answers for more than 10,000 makes and models from 1985 to today, across all categories including sports, compact, mid-size, trucks and SUVs.

You can either search and find results within Fixya or ask a question and the Fixya community will help with an answer. It’s a brilliant model - Fixya lets others contribute the content that Fixya monetizes and the user gets their question answered so they are happy as well. What does the expert get? Typically they are in it just to be able to help others with their expertise.

While I can’t imagine the VW community at VWvortex coming over to Fixya, for the average auto owner, it should work very well. What would be awesome is a mobile version so when the mechanic says you need to fix the big sprocket, you can get right out to the community to verify - and to check on any potential manufacturer recalls, etc.

Fixya claims 7 million users contribute 100,000 new questions and solutions each month, covering 800,000 consumer products spanning all categories. Check out Roi Carthy’s interview with Fixya.
