Huffington Post CEO Betsy Morgan presented the news resource last night at the NY Tech meeting. Most of the content comes from over 1,600 free authors and the Huffington Post team is around 50 people. They showed off their slick analytics tool which allows their staff to monitor in real-time the traffic each story is receiving and edit the titles or content on-the-fly to increase readership.

What would a NY Tech meetup be without some Meetup shilling? Meetup showed off a new design for the Meetup groups which includes a "new" design along with the ability to force pre-payments for events and a location service to help you find a location to hold your meeting. Caroline McCarthy called the demo, "Impressive."
They also announced that the site will soon be available in Italian and that they will be crowdsourcing the other language translations. As we know, "crowdsourced" really means "free labor."
They also demo’ed the Meetup Alliance which was demo’ed at the NY Tech Meetup back in December.
Meetup got a bonus two minutes to demo and instead of the normal signals that manager Dawn Barber provides to leader Scott Heiferman to cut them off at the five minute mark, Dawn made facial reactions and hand movements to suggest that Scott should let them go on. So not only did Meetup get to present again at Meetup, they got bonus minutes as well!
