CenterNetworks Party At Drop.io HQJune 18th, 2008 at 2:00 pmSource:CenterNetworks
Xoopit calls their technology, "Personal Indexing" and it supplements generic search by crawling media shared via email as links from across the social web. There’s also a social media component to the release which allows you to attach photos from a variety of services including Flickr directly inside of Gmail. After you find the photo you are looking for, you can attach it to an email or send it to the top social networks including Facebook and MySpace. Seems like they are going right after Xobni on many of their features - Xobni focuses on Outlook, Xoopit on Gmail. Xoopit has plans to expand to the other major online email services including Yahoo Mail, AOL and Hotmail. Jackson Latka brought up a good question on Twitter - what about security. Xoopit needs access to your Gmail account to access their service. Are you comfortable giving up this access? I also struggle with Google using one account for everything - if I give them access to Gmail, they can also access any other Google service with the credentials. If you’d like an invite to the Xoopit beta, just register here.

I am very excited to announce that the next CenterNetworks party will be held on June 26, 2008 at Drop.io’s brand new headquarters right over the Brooklyn Bridge. The party is a joint production of CN and Drop.io and is sponsored by RRE Ventures. It should be a great evening of networking with some of the top names and talent in the NYC Web scene. There will also be mood rooms including a Wii room with bowling contest (ya’all are going down), a Rock Band room and a karaoke room. No demos, and no cover charge - just fun. Oh yea, and the best part - Grimaldi’s pizza! To RSVP, send an email to rsvp@dropio.com and include your name and company. We are opening 75 slots today and will continue to open more over the next few days so everyone has a chance to get in. Details:
The drop.io team and I look forward to seeing you next week!
