When we relaunched CN a couple of weeks ago, a new feature was added that we are ready to announce this evening. We have covered over 1,500 companies in just under two years. With that said, you are now able to add a bit of company information to your company’s page. The submitted information will sit above our company coverage and will provide readers with a taste of what your company is about before they engage with our content.

Just head over to the company directory, find your company and then submit your company information via our contact form. All content will be reviewed and edited as needed (no infomercials!) and you will be notified once the content has been added to your company page.

Here’s what you can submit:

• One paragraph company overview
• Physical address information
• Company info Web addresses

We won’t be adding new pages so please only submit your information if your company has a page. If not, when we write about your company, at that point you will have the opportunity to provide the above items. I am very excited to announce that CenterNetworks has a new look and a completely overhauled backend setup. We’ve been testing the new setup over the past week and so far it’s been solid. The goal was to simplify the frontend and create better content paths. With so much of our traffic going directly to an interior page, we worked hard to make sure that users would be able to see a top-line of what’s new across the site.

The left menu now features content categories and companies of interest. This list will rotate as topics and companies move up and down the hot list. Our awesome sponsors are now highlighted and NYC now has it’s own section. We provide more NYC Web coverage than any other site and we wanted to highlight the growing NYC Web scene. We’ve also added a list of contributors to the site. Some of our best posts come from our contributors and I felt this was very important to showcase. There’s a lot more, poke around and find all the goodies.

The new design was created by Mark Langeneck of CMPLT design. Mark is one of the most talented designers I know. He understands more about usability, architecture and the general Web than most of the other 200+ designers I’ve worked with in my career. His questioning of design strategy also strengthens the final product. Perhaps it comes from his love of Elvis. Whatever it is, he did an awesome job.

In case you are wondering about the backend of CenterNetworks, we use Drupal and mySQL. I spent many hours optimizing the heck out of the code to make sure the site loads as quickly as possible. In my testing, the new CN loads 5x quicker than the old CN.

This is just the start; we’ve got more exciting things in the hopper. A month ago this week and after raising our $52.5 million dollar Series A round, we hired our first new blogger. His name is Matthew and at first he did a great job. He worked really hard and stuck to his 2 nap per day deal. But then we started to see him slack off. The biggest change was that most of the time he was supposed to be working, he was secretly "liking" his father’s items on FriendFeed. He also created 142 FriendFeed accounts in a variety of different countries - all so he could help pops get more "likes". Unfortunately and after several written warnings (he claims he can’t read yet), we have decided to terminate his employment immediately. We are willing to renew his deal once he gets past pre-K.

But don’t worry folks. Over the past five days, we conducted a "CenterNetworks Blogger Idol" contest around the state of New York. After much deliberation and many Oreo cookies, we found a great replacement.

Her name is Pete and besides creating great written content, she is also a mega video star. Each day she moves up the ranks on Seesmic and is closing in on the man who looks like Santa Claus. Thankfully Pete already has an iPhone and a nice MacbookPro so this deal was much easier to finalize, all she wants is Web startup stickers. Now Pete isn’t as big a name as Morgan, Veronica, Justine or Natali yet, but all the other video show hosts better watch out, Pete is coming for ya!
