The Rock Hard Times is an impressive music database which facilitates searching by artist, genre, country, or label. The site is like a mashup between IMDB and Wikipedia, allowing anyone to edit any of the content on any of the pages. There is a significant amount of information on this site, and if you search for an artist who isn’t yet there, you can create a page for them yourself.

Katapulco - Multiple Engine Search by Shortcut

Katapulco is a search engine aggregator that allows you to select which engine you’d like to use depending on what you are searching for. A number of similar sites have appeared on the scene recently but Katapulco distinguishes itself by allowing you to select your engine by keyword. When you arrive at Katapulco.com, you will see a box to enter your query and another box next to it where you enter the one or two character shortcut for the engine of your choice.

Twitturls - Popular Twitter Links Tweeted

Twitturls allows you to check out the most popular links being tweeted on Twitter as they happen. The site lists the links based on popularity and when they were posted. An icon next to each link shows in what direction the link is going in popularity. A red arrow means that the link is being tweeted by practically everyone, a yellow arrow means that the link is warming up to that level, and the blue arrows mean that the link has remained pretty steady over the past 24 hours and shows if it is now climbing or falling in the ranks.

TweetCube is a straight forward Twitter app that allows you to upload and post files to your Twitter account. The result is a tweet from your account with the message you’ve entered and a Twurl link that leads you to a TweetCube page with your submitted file displayed for the Twitter community to enjoy.

Tengaged - A Less Invasive Game of Big Brother

Fan of the Big Brother series but not one to enjoy being trapped in a house with cameras following your every move? Tengaged allows you to play a less invasive version of the game with other people online. Each game involves ten people and lasts seven days, each day one member of the group getting voted off starting from day 2. People are nominated for eviction based on the comments that they submit to the group and their amount of activity participating in the game on a regular basis.

Out For A Ride is a social network for bicycle aficionados that allows them to connect with each other when they aren’t out on the road. FriendFeedLinks.com - What’s Hot on FriendFeed

The idea behind the popular site FriendFeed, is finding new and interesting links, articles, sites, etc via your friends. It’s an exercise in sharing the Web 2.0 way. Until now, there surprisingly hasn’t been any FriendFeed memetrackers allowing a Digg-style popularity index to showcase the most viewed items. However, a clever Frenchman decided to change this and made his own FriendFeed memetracker aptly called FriendFeedLinks.

PlantWire - A Flickr Flower Garden

Gardening gets the 2.0 treatment with PlantWire. The site uses publicly licensed Flickr photos to identify flowers and plants. Currently, their floral database contains over 300 plants and over 6000 images. Plants can be searched for by tags, colors (using the ever so handy color pixel grid), and by name, using the search bar. The site uses both common, vernacular names alongside scientific names picked for the USDA GRIN Taxonomy database.
