ZocDoc, the service for finding doctors and making appointments online, is announcing two new high profile investors this morning: Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, and Marc Benioff, Founder and CEO of Salesforce.com. The investments follow news last month that the company had raised a $3 million Series A led by Khosla Ventures.

The company, which launched about a year ago, is touting some impressive growth numbers in its announcement, writing “ZocDoc offered patients nearly 20,000 available appointments in September, a 2,000% increase since the company launched a year ago. The company has grown its consumer and practitioner base by an average of 50% per month as it continues to add new specialties and extend its geographic reach.”

Currently, the company’s service is only offered in the New York City area, though earlier this year they announced plans to expand to Washington DC and San Francisco.

Meanwhile, for Bezos, the investment in ZocDoc marks yet another addition to his Web 2.0 portfolio. It was recently revealed that the billionaire backed Twitter, while prior investments include 37Signals, Kongregate, and ChaCha.

Digg CEO Jay Adelson told BusinessWeek that the company is not planning a 2008 IPO, holding acquisition talks, or looking for more money. Which is obviously bullshit. That is, unless Digg hire Allen & Company, an investment bank which specializes in media deals, to bolster its ultimate frisbee team.

Emerging briefly from the heaping pile, Adelson did admit that an acquisition would be easier for a company Digg’s size than going public. But mostly Adelson was just being cagey. Just like he was a couple of months ago when I saw him in New York. “Why all the Digg coverage? Isn’t Digg old news?” he asked me. Why all the complaints, Jay? Getting bored of running Digg?

Architectural Digest profiled the Hawaiian home of a Silicon Valley mogul in its November issue. A reader fingers Rick Fluegel, a former general partner with Matrix Partners.

The evidence is a little shaky. In its article, our reader targets a Silicon Valley figure because AD calls Hawaii the “the Hamptons of the Silicon Valley (instead of potato fields, there’s lava).” From there, it was a matter of a Google search for the architect’s firm, “Hill Glazier Architects.” That turned up a building permit for a $3.7 million home listing both Fluegel and Hill Glazier, a Palo Alto firm.

So there you have it. Another key detail: the lady of the household is Puerto-Rican born, according to the home’s interior designer. Anyone know if Fluegel’s wife fits that description? Not that it matters. Whoever owns the house joins the likes of Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff, retired Hewlett-Packard CFO Bob Wayman, and former HP chairwoman Patricia Dunn. If Hawaii is the Hamptons of Silicon Valley, the point isn’t who owns this house. It’s that you don’t.

Is it just me, or do venture capitalists Stewart Alsop and Gilman Louie of Alsop Louie Partners, pictured here in matching leather jackets, remind anyone else of the leather-suit-buying wannabe rock stars Bret and Jemaine from HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords”?

There’s no official word on the fate of Business 2.0, the Time Inc.-owned magazine where I used to work. The publication, once fated to shut down after its September issue, is still alive, thanks to a hastily granted extension of life support. The staff is working on the October issue, while higher-ups consider offers to buy the magazine that streamed in after word of its impending demise leaked. But they seem to have resigned themselves to the fate of being absorbed into larger sister publication Fortune, based on this sign: A magazine logo near the entrance has been altered to read “Fortune 2.0.”
