Co-op combines a quick update tool like Twitter with inline time tracking and project management. Earlier this week, Co-Op presented a demo of their application at the NY Tech Meetup. We covered the launch of Co-Op last month.

Boston-based online money management tool Geezeo has launched a new financial marketplace today. The basic concept behind the marketplace is to offer Geezeo site visitors and customers a way to see a variety of financial offers in a vertical. The categories include: credit cards, checking, savings, student loans and brokerage. It appears that auto loans and mortgages are coming soon.

It looks like a great way for Geezeo to earn additional revenue based on the affiliate revenue earned from users who clickthrough the marketplace. Geezeo co-founder Peter Glyman tells me that they are looking to widgetize the marketplace and those who embed the widget.

Online financial services site Wesabe has announced a new partnership today which will bring Wesabe’s financial tools to the UK. The tools are live on the Daily Telegraph’s website, telegraph.co.uk. Wesabe already claims to support members in 30 countries. From what I can recall, this is the first international deal for any of the new crop of U.S. based online financial services providers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Telegraph self-reported 22.9 million unique visitors in September 2008. It will be interesting to see how UK residents take to the idea of sharing their bank information/passwords with an external source and one that is based outside the UK. Wesabe allows their customers to upload files as well which does not require bank passwords to be shared. Most of the other new online banking services do not support this option and require bank passwords to be shared.

In any event this looks like a huge win for Wesabe as it should provide good visibility for their service in another large country outside the U.S.

We’ve got a couple updates on the social lending front this morning. First, Prosper has entered a quiet period which they note, "Prosper has started a process to register, with the appropriate securities authorities, promissory notes that may be offered and sold to lenders through our site in the future."

During this time Prosper will not accept any new loans but will continue to service the loans that have already been completed. Lending Club just completed this process which took about six months to complete.

I’ve also received some loan numbers from Lending Club on the 10-day period since the quiet period completion. They have signed up 1.072 new lenders and in total have provided just under $2 million in loans. These numbers are higher than before the quiet period began earlier this year.

Back in April we reported on P2P social lender LendingClub entering a "quiet period" from the SEC. In June Lending Club filed with the SEC for $600 million in notes. Today Lending Club will announce at the Finovate conference in NYC that they have completed the SEC registration process which ends its six-month quiet period. The updated Lending Club website is available again to lenders and borrowers.

Lending Club notes that the average interest rates for a person with good credit will be 12%. They are also launching LendingMatch which provides lenders with loan information to create a well diversified portfolio. Loans becomes notes registered with the SEC and Lending Club is also launching a secondary P2P loan market.

Lending Club is pushing the concept of "people lending to people" and that they aren’t tied into a bank like the other P2P lenders are. To-date Lending Club has originated more than 2,000 loans with a value of over $19 million.

With the current economic situation, will more people turn to P2P lending if denied by their bank or financial institution. Something tells me that today’s announcement from Lending Club comes at the perfect time. Check out my interview with Lending Club CEO Renaud Laplanche.

NY-based Loanio, a new peer-to-peer (p2p) social finance lender, has launched today. Loanio says what differentiates them from the other p2p lenders is that they allow co-signers to help others get credit.

Loanio CEO and Founder Michael Solomon notes, "only around
10% of borrowers on p2p lending sites wind up getting a loan." Loanio is attempting to help people with no credit and poor credit by attached a co-borrower to the loan. Loanio charges an origination fee to borrowers and a service fee to lenders.

Loanio’s suggested interest rates range from a max of 7-14% for A credit through 22%+ for E credit.

Loanio also offers a service to borrowers named "Platinum Verification Service". By paying a fee to Loanio, they will verify self-reported data which can help with the a lender’s assessment. One interesting note from the Loanio Web site, "all loans are originated by Loanio and then sold to website lenders who are legally considered the loan purchasers."

Streetread is a financial news and stock quote aggregator that launched earlier this summer. Josh Lowensohn at Webware has a good review of the initial launch. Initially the Streetread service was only available on the Web. Last week they announced the launch of Streetread Mobile which provides a similar set of information on a mobile device.

The Streetread mobile app displays the latest news about a stock plus a quote and chart. You can jump to the full stories along with a tie into Google for news.

I think the app would be even stronger if you could set one-click home screen buttons on the iPhone directly to a stock in Streetread. There’s a mobile demo if you want to play with the mobile version before using it on your mobile.

Streetread was founded by Mike Stefanello. Mike is working solo and bootstrapping the project. Here are a few examples of the mobile application:

As the online financial management space continues to heat up, two of the major players have announced redesigns of their financial management portals. Boston-based Geezeo was first up launching their redesign last month. Today Mint has announced their redesign which was needed based on the new features the company has added over the past year. Just like our redesign, it’s important to consider when it’s better to redesign than to just keep adding features on to the current site.

Mint has also started to add more content to the site including how-to guides on reducing credit card debt and paying off student loans. Both Geezeo and Mint have great personal finance blogs. This content is very search engine friendly and should help Mint to drive more visitors to the site and potentially to the Mint service.

Mint currently self-reports over 400,000 customers (no word on active customers).

In June 2008, Lending Club filed with the SEC for registration of $600 Million in Member Payment Dependent Notes. Lending Club has been in a "quiet period" since April 2008 while working on the registration. Today the DoughRoller blog was able to gather new information on the SEC registration filing.

DoughRoller notes, "In its Amended S-1, LendingClub disclosed that under a new formula, it will also use several other credit markers in calculating interest rates. Specifically, LendingClub will factor in a borrower’s number of open accounts, the number of credit inquiries in the last six months, how much of a borrower’s available credit is used up, and length of credit history." Previously Lending Club used only an applicant’s FICO score, debt-to-income (DTI) ratio, and amount borrowed. This new set of loan criteria should provide a more balanced picture of the applicant for potential lenders. Many times an applicant will apply for a large number of credit cards at once but they won’t show up as tradelines for several months. By viewing current inquiries, a lender can get an idea if the borrower has been out grabbing lots of new credit. 

We will continue to actively monitor the social lending space. Considering the current financial picture, social lending could become even more active than it is currently.

Back in January, Julie Alexandria took over as Wallstrip host.  Today Wallstrip has re-launched their site and video player. There’s an updated archive show finder, threaded comments along with the ability to note if you are long or short on the stocks they create videos for.

The player is the big update in my opinion. It’s now branded CBS and has pre-roll and post-roll ads. In my tests, there were 30 second and 15 second pre-roll ads on different video loads along with 15 second post-roll ads. The pre-roll ads included Blackberry and Brita. A minute of commercials for a video that’s less than 3 minutes long - over 25% of the total time is taken up with ads!

I guess the days of OptionsXpress ads are over.
